The beautiful city of Madison is located between four large lakes in the southeastern portion of Wisconsin, an area that is rich in historical significance and has a very diverse population.

The first FLMDC meeting consisted of about ten enthusiastic metal detector hobbyists. Since then, FLMDC has had a continuing membership level in excess of forty dedicated members. Several of the original charter members are currently active members.

Regular monthly meetings are a highlight of the club's activities, offering unique and knowledgeable speakers and presenters with diverse, but pertinent subjects of interest. A major attraction is the annual member  hunts, featuring numerous exciting finds of silver and gold coins, artifacts and prizes. All active members, and their immediate families are able to participate in these fun and lucrative hunts.

There is also an exciting raffle and door prize drawing held at each meeting, that all members are very anxious to take part in. Prizes vary in value, but are extremely numerous, and many members go home with one or more at the end of the night.

FLMDC members are very aware of the public image they portray as they practice their hobby, and as good, responsible citizens of the community, are careful to protect and preserve any lands on which they hunt. In accordance with that, all members pledge to observe the Metal Detecting Code of Ethics, which can be found on the Ethics Page.
